Danny Garcia Calls For Conor Benn Fight At 154lbs
Danny Garcia thinks a fight with Conor Benn makes a lot of sense.
Benn has been calling to get a big fight next time out and Garcia is hopeful to make it happen. He believes it would be a very exciting fight, and stylistically, he thinks it favors him to beat the Brit and pick up a massive win.
However, Danny Garcia says the fight would have to happen at 154lbs.
“I would love to fight him at 154,” Garcia told YSM Sports Media (via BoxingScene). “That makes great sense. He wants to fight a big name. Garcia vs. Benn. There ain’t no bigger fight than fighting Danny Garcia. So, I would love that fight. Stylistically, that’s a great fight for me, and that’s a fight that I would love at 154, not at 147. They already know what time it is. I don’t duck no smoke. I’m about to change my middle name from ‘Swift’ to ‘Smoke.’”
According to Danny Garcia, he says the money also needs to be right, but he has full confidence he would beat Conor Benn.
“If the price is right, I would go anywhere [to fight Benn],” said Garcia. “I watched [the Dobson fight]. I thought he did good. [Dobson] was gritty, though. He fought, he had skills.”
Garcia is currently 37-3 and coming off a decision win over Jose Benavidez Jr. back in July. Before that, he suffered a decision loss to Errol Spence Jr., as Garcia 4-3 in his last seven, with the other two losses coming to Shawn Porter and Keith Thurman.
In his career, Garcia holds notable wins over Ivan Redkach, Samuel Vargas, and Paulie Malignaggi among others.
