Danny Garcia Targets Keith Thurman and Errol Spence Jr.
Danny Garcia is hoping to avenge his losses to Keith Thurman and Errol Spence Jr. before his career is over.
Garcia suffered a split decision loss to Thurman back in March of 2017 which was his first career loss. His last loss, meanwhile, was to Spence Jr. in 2020 and now Garcia is hopeful he can secure rematches with both of them.
“I would love to fight Errol Spence for a rematch, I would love to avenge at least one of my losses before this is all said and done,” Garcia recently told Fight Hub TV. ”If I can get a rematch with one of those guys and come back and fight another fight, that would be crazy.”
Currently, Danny Garcia does not have his next fight booked, and says he would prefer to rematch Thurman over Spence Jr. as that is a fight he still feels he won. But, for now, Garcia says he wants to fight and is hopeful he will get booked soon.
“I want to fight, but right now it’s a timing thing,” he said. “I’m not getting younger, but I’m also not damaging my body. When I fought Benavidez in 2022, my mindset was, ‘I’m gonna fight in 2023 and fight in 2024, and let me see what I wanna do…’ Right now, I have to get a fight and build it into that. I want to fight and then do a big fight…
“I’m a PBC fighter, and right now they don’t have a schedule,” he said. “They’re basically doing just a fight at a time, that’s what it looks like. So I don’t think there’s no date after the Gervonta Davis [June 15] fight, so right now it’s about timing.”
Danny Garcia is 37-3 as a pro and is coming off a decision win over Jose Benavidez Jr. in July of 2022.
