Darren Till closing as huge betting favorite to beat Anthony Taylor this weekend

Former undisputed UFC welterweight title chaser, Darren Till remains on this weekend’s MisFits x DAZN boxing card despite the fall out of a fight with Tommy Fury — and the Liverpool native is closing as a monstrous betting favorite to beat fellow ex-MMA fighter, Anthony Taylor.

Till, an alum of the UFC, will make his sophomore professional boxing outing this weekend in Manchester, taking on former Bellator MMA and BAMMA contender, Taylor in a catchweight pairing.

Winning his professional boxing debut last summer in Dubai, former UFC championship challenger, Darren Till most recently took home a controversial knockout win over Mohammad Mutie in the second round, followed by a post-fight brawl between the duo.

And according to many markets, including the best sports betting apps in Ontario, former title challenger, Darren Till is closing as high as a -275 betting favorite to defeat +188 betting underdog, Anthony Taylor.

Initially slated to take on former Love Island star, Fury — the half brother of former undisputed WBC heavyweight kingpin, Tyson Fury, Liverpool striker, Till saw the pairing fall to the wayside after the former expressed his concerns regarding claims from the Liverpudlian that he would utilize mixed martial arts techniques if he is losing the matchup.

And replaced by professional boxer and former Bellator MMA contender, Taylor, ex-Octagon star, Till boldly claimed in recent weeks that he was less than excited or interested to take on the Berkeley native.

“Do you want me to be totally honest?” Darren Till asked Anthony Taylor during a recent interview. “I actually like you, but I’m not excited for this fight with you because you’re sh*t. I’m just going to beat you. You’re just sh*t. I’m sorry to be disrespectful, but you’re really, really sh*t. You fall over your feet, you wing punches. I don’t actually think you realize what you’re getting into with me. So I’m just not even going to talk, I’m just going to beat you. I respect you, and then I’m just going to move on because you’re really sh*t. I promise you, you’re sh*t.”

“… “I haven’t even been training because you’re sh*t,” Darren Till continued. “You’re proper sh*t, Anthony. I’m sorry. You’re sh*t. What I’m doing is right. I’ve [signed] to fight with you. You can just accept the little 50K, what they are giving you. Be happy. You’re going to run as soon as I jab you on the nose, and then you’re going to plan, do whatever, and I’m probably just going to wear you down and knock you out, and it’s all good.”

Most recently competing in mixed martial arts on the main card of UFC 282 at the end of 2022, Till dropped his third consecutive loss in the Octagon in the form of an eventual third round face crank submission loss to current undisputed middleweight champion, Dricus du Plessis.

The defeat came off the back of a prior submission loss to Derek Brunson, and another decision defeat to former undisptued middleweight titleholder, Robert Whittaker. Till’s most recent win in the sport came in the form of a close split decision win over Kelvin Gastelum at Madison Square Garden five years ago.
