David Benavidez vs. Kyrone Davis Set For November 13
David Benavidez will be headlining an event from his hometown against Kyrone Davis on November 13.
Benavidez will make his homecoming return to Phoenix, Ariz. against 168-pound contender Davis in a 10-round match that headlines live on Showtime from the Footprint Center. Benavidez was supposed to fight Jose Uzcátegui on the card but he was pulled from the bout after failing a pre-fight drug test.
David Benavidez (24-0) has not fought since he TKO’d Ronald Ellis back in March. Prior to that, he beat Roamer Alexis Angulo last August. The 24-year-old is the two-time WBC super-middleweight champion, a belt he held from 2017 to 2018 and 2019 to 2020. In 2018, he tested positive for cocaine and was stripped of the belt. The other time he lost his belt was due to him missing weight for a fight. He does hold notable wins over J’Leon Love, Anthony Dirrell, Ronald Gavril, and Rogelio Medina.
Kyrone Davis (16-2-1), is coming off a decision win over Martez McGregor back on September 5. In the toughest test of his career, he fought two-time super-middleweight champion Anthony Dirrell to a split-draw in February, which was super-middleweight debut.
The telecast begins at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT on November 13 and will feature the much-awaited return of longtime contender José Benavídez, the older brother of David Benavídez, facing Argentina’s Francisco Emanuel Torres in the 10-round super welterweight co-main event.
