David Diamante Critically Injured In Motorcycle Accident
David Diamante, one of the most known ring announcers in the world, was involved in a serious motorcycle accident on Monday.
He was riding on Third Avenue in Brooklyn beneath the Brooklyn Queens Expressway and was taken to NYU Langone Health in critical condition suffering from three fractures to his spine, multiple broken ribs, and serious damage to his right knee.
Due to the injuries, David Diamante underwent five hours of surgery on Tuesday during which nine screws, multiple rods, and cadaver parts were inserted into his spine.
After the surgery, Diamante said that he is doing better but knows he has a long road ahead of him.
“It’s going to be a tough road. It’s a bad injury and getting better will take some time. This will be a struggle. I’ll have to learn to walk again, and right now there’s a risk of complications. But I have a positive attitude and will be back as soon as possible,” Diamante said (via Boxingscene).
Michael Buffer also spoke to Diamante and said his fellow ring announcer “is very optimistic.”
“David’s a fighter and has met big challenges in his life-this will be another one,” Buffer said.
David Diamante last worked on December 18 for the Joseph Parker vs. Derek Chisora 2 card.
