Deontay Wilder Believes Anthony Joshua Fight Will Eventually Happen

Deontay Wilder is hopeful he and Anthony Joshua do end up sharing the ring with one another.

Wilder vs. Joshua has been a fight that many boxing fans have wanted to see for years, but for whatever reason it hasn’t come to fruition.

The two are now set to box on the same Dec. 23 card in Saudi Arabia in what should be a big event. Even though they aren’t fighting one another, Wilder is hopeful it will happen soon.

“Hopefully soon we can get in the ring and give the people what they want,” Wilder said. But I wish you nothing but the best, even if it doesn’t happen. I believe it will happen. I believe it’s about that time. But even if it doesn’t, I wish him nothing but the best.”

Wilder is set to face Joseph Parker on Dec. 23 while Joshua will take on Otto Wallin on the same card, in pivotal fights for both of their careers. Perhaps if they both win, then the fight with Wilder and Joshua will come to fruition.

Deontay Wilder is 43-2-1 and hasn’t fought since October of 2022 when he knocked out Robert Helenius in the first round. That victory got him back in the win column after back-to-back knockout losses to Tyson Fury. Wilder is the former WBC heavyweight champion and has notable wins over Luis Ortiz, Chris Arreola, Gerald Washington, and Malik Scott among others.

Anthony Joshua, meanwhile, is 26-3 and coming off a seventh-round knockout win over Robert Helenius back in August after defeating Jermaine Franklin by decision. Prior to that, Joshua had lost back-to-back fights to Oleksandr Usyk to lose his heavyweight titles.
