Deontay Wilder May Use Psychedelics To Decide If He Continues Boxing
Deontay Wilder may rely on a South American psychedelic to decide his boxing future.
Wilder is coming off a brutal 11th-round knockout defeat to Tyson Fury in their WBC heavyweight title trilogy fight back in October.
The American suffered multiple knockdowns in that fight as well as a lot of damage both in the trilogy and in their rematch back in February 2020.
Leading up to the third fight, Wilder hinted at potentially retiring in the near future and rumours only further circulated following his latest setback.
For now, the American hasn’t made a decision on what’s next.
However, he plans on taking a plant-based psychedelic called Ayahuasca to help him decide his next steps in the sweet science.
“I’m thinking about doing Ayahuasca,” Wilder said on the Byron Scott Podcast (via BoxingScene). “That’s gonna be my decision making process…
“Boxing’s put a bad taste because of what it’s done to me. It’s dangerous, politics, cheating… I still have love for the sport though.”
Should Wilder decide to remain in the sport, he certainly has options for his next fight.
Among them could be fights with Andy Ruiz Jr. or Derek Chisora while he could also face the losers of the upcoming heavyweight title fights involving Tyson Fury vs. Dillian Whyte and Oleksandr Usyk vs. Anthony Joshua.
Do you think Deontay Wilder will continue boxing? Who should his next opponent be, if so?
