Deontay Wilder Promises He Will Continue To Show His ‘Greatness’
Deontay Wilder has vowed he will fight again.
After Wilder suffered a seventh-round TKO loss to Tyson Fury, many thought the trilogy would be next, but that will not happen. The rematch clause expired and Fury is likely to face Anthony Joshua. According to Wilder, who recently appeared on the ‘We Might Need Counselling Podcast,’ says he is fighting again.
“We in it for a reason. I love it. I’m in love with it. But trust is hard to come by because it’s money. Desperate times call for desperate measures. It’s a sport that I love, and I’m going to continue to do it and show my greatness in it,” Wilder said (via boxingscene).
“I got a lot of things that I want to do in this sport,” Wilder said. “But politics play a big part in certain things happening. Management, promotion companies. Certain guys don’t want their fighters to fight certain guys because they plan for their guys. It’s a lot that goes on.
“Boxing is a dirty business, man,” Wilder continued. “Some people would say it’s a business, but it’s a good business when you are making money. I guess everyone is happy when they are making money. It’s a money-driven business. I’m not going to bash my sport, although I speak facts of it. It’s a monster of a sport.”
Who Deontay Wilder will fight in his return is uncertain. Dillian Whyte has been vocal about wanting to fight him and that certainly makes sense. However, perhaps he could face Andy Ruiz Jr., who is under the same banner as Wilder, the winner could also get the winner of Joshua-Fury.
For now, Wilder remains training and awaiting his next fight.
