Devin Haney Expects Firefight With Jorge Linares
Boxing fans should expect fireworks in the Devin Haney vs. Jorge Linares title fight coming up.
That’s according to Haney who looks to defend his WBC lightweight title for the third time when he takes on the former champion on May 29.
Although Linares presents many problems for just about any fighter, Haney believes he is ready for whatever comes his way.
In the process, the unbeaten American hopes to further show why he is one of the best boxers in the world.
“I am expecting a firefight and I can’t wait,” Haney said (via Boxing247). “We don’t know what Jorge will turn up, but I am ready for anything, and I can’t wait to show it.
“Jorge brings so much to the table. Speed, power, ring IQ, experience against the best of the best, and I think he’s the type of opponent that will bring the best out of me, make me bring out my A-game, take it to the next level, the elite level.
“People think he will have success, some think he will even win the fight, and that’s why it will show that I am elite and one of the best, if not the best, in the world.”
Haney last defended his title against Yuriorkis Gamboa in November with a unanimous decision win.
Linares, meanwhile, bounced back from his TKO defeat to Pablo Cesar Cano with two wins, including a knockout of Carlos Morales in February last year.
