Devin Haney Prepared To Take Same Deal As Lomachenko To Secure George Kambosos Jr. Fight
Devin Haney is willing to accept a smaller amount of money in order to secure a title fight with George Kambosos Jr.
It was recently reported that Kambosos was set to defend his lightweight titles against Vasiliy Lomachenko on June 5 in a fight that would take place in Melbourne, Australia.
Lomachenko had accepted his side of the deal while Kambosos still had to finalize things from his side.
Additionally, there would be a rematch clause should Kambosos lose which would also take place in Australia.
The fight everyone thought would initially happen was a lightweight title unification between Kambosos and WBC title-holder Haney.
However, negotiations didn’t go smoothly with Haney reportedly having issues with his purse. But with this Lomachenko news, Haney is now willing to accept the same deal as the Ukrainian.
“whatever he taking i’ll take the same offer! @EddieHearn @georgekambosos @loudibella”
Haney’s promoter Eddie Hearn echoed the same sentiments.
“He wants legacy, he wants undisputed – Devin Haney will do everything he can to make this [George Kambosos Jr] fight happen. He’s probably willing to take money he may feel isn’t the right money for this fight. I feel like there’s no excuses,” Hearn said.
Who will Kambosos Jr. end up fighting? That remains to be seen for now. But we can be sure it’ll be either Lomachenko or Haney.
Do you think Devin Haney will end up facing George Kambosos Jr. next?
