Dillian Whyte Rips Daniel Dubois: ‘Man’s Out Here Quitting’
Top heavyweight contender Dillian Whyte has ripped into Daniel Dubois who suffered his first professional loss at the hands of Joe Joyce on Saturday night.
Dubois put his Commonwealth and British titles on the line and hoped to claim the vacant European strap against Joyce. The 23-year-old started well and was able to land countless of his patented power shots on his opponent.
Joyce took it all and consistently found a home for his jab. As the fight progressed the left eye of Dubois began to badly swell. By round ten it was almost completely shut. An innocuous punch from Joyce to that left eye got a massive reaction from Dubois who dropped to the mat and waited for the referee to count him out.
Dubois and his promoter Frank Warren have previously expressed heavy interest in challenging Whyte who is coming off a vicous KO defeat at the hands of Alexander Povetkin earlier this year.
‘The Bodysnatcher’ immediately took to social media to revel in his compatriot’s defeat, he said.
“They ain’t got nothing to say right now. Man’s out here quitting. Sh-t, man’s out here quitting in mid-fight.”
“They were saying they wanna fight me and they were gonna knock me out. One thing with me, no quit, straight warrior. If I’m losing, I’m getting knocked out. Straight warrior, straight warrior. And these cowards wanna mention [me]…. f–king fish eyes and Daniel Dubois – c*nts!” (Transcribed by Boxing Scene)
Former world champion Carl Frampton was ringside for the fight and told BT Sport that he also believes Dubois quit.
“I think we all like Dubois, I think he is a likable guy,” Frampton said. “But I think he quit there. We have to be brutally honest here, he took a knee. His eye was a mess, his eye was closed. But I get dragged out of the ring, I don’t take a knee. I had Dubois a round up at the time of the stoppage, but you have to call it what it is. He quit. He is a young kid and he can still come back.”
Do you agree with Dillian Whyte? Did Daniel Dubois quit against Joe Joyce?
