Dillian Whyte Sends Alexander Povetkin Classy Message Following Latter’s Retirement
Dillian Whyte had nothing but respect for Alexander Povetkin.
Povetkin recently announced his retirement from the sport as he cited injuries as a prime reason why he decided to hang up his gloves.
“The years take their toll,” Povetkin said on his Instagram account. “I have all kinds of injuries that still need to be treated. The time has come for me to end my career.”
Povetkin’s last fight, of course, was a fourth-round TKO defeat to Dillian Whyte in March after he KO’d the Briton back in August.
And Whyte only had good things to say about his rival.
“Happy retirement to one of the best modern day heavyweight and a great champion god bless you enjoy your next chapter and thank your for two great fights @povetkinalexandr #truewarrior”
Povetkin retired as a former WBA heavyweight champion with a 36-3-1 record.
