Eddie Hearn Believes Ryan Garcia vs. Gervonta Davis ‘Is A Massive Fight’
Eddie Hearn believes if Ryan Garcia vs. Gervonta Davis happens it would be a massive fight for boxing.
After Garcia knocked out Javier Fortuna on Saturday, he once again called out Davis which he says would be a massive fight for the division. Garcia says it would be the biggest fight in boxing and Hearn confirms that as he thinks it would be a massive fight and he hopes it does get made.
“[Ryan Garcia vs. Gervonta Davis] is a massive fight,” Hearn said on The DAZN Boxing Show. “It’s two different fan bases. It’s just such a great mix of styles, of personalities, narrative. I hope those guys can get it made. I really do. I think Ryan will take that fight. I don’t see why Gervonta Davis wouldn’t want to take that fight. I’m sure he thinks he beats Ryan Garcia convincingly. So hopefully, everyone involved can make that happen.”
Whether or not Garcia vs. Davis will happen next is uncertain. Both men have been vocal in saying they want it and Eddie Hearn also hopes the weight won’t be an issue. He doesn’t think it will be a big deal no matter what weight they will fight at but he does hope the fight will happen.
“I think we all know realistically, Tank probably makes 135 quite comfortably if he does it properly,” Hearn said. “I don’t think it really matters. I mean, you’re getting to a stage now where some of those fights, belts are irrelevant. And actually, Tank against Ryan Garcia, I don’t care if it’s at 136, 7,8, 9, 40. Like whatever. It’s just a really good fight. I don’t see why that fight shouldn’t be made.”
