Eddie Hearn: Devin Haney Would Fight George Kambosos Jr. In Australia
As far as Eddie Hearn is concerned, the next fight to make is George Kambosos Jr vs. Devin Haney.
Kambosos recently shocked the world when he outpointed Teofimo Lopez this past weekend to become the new unified lightweight champion.
There’s already been talk of a rematch between the pair. However, there was no rematch clause going into the first fight which means Kambosos can explore other options.
One of them is Haney who holds the WBC lightweight title.
Though the American is defending his strap against JoJo Diaz this weekend, Hearn believes Haney’s next fight should be a unification with Kambosos for all the belts.
“George Kambosos Jr deserves respect, credit, and right now he’s the man,” Hearn said (via Michael Benson).
“Devin Haney’s our man. Right now George is the man. He had a standout victory, this win for Devin [vs Jojo Diaz] will be another standout, then the two must meet.”
Eddie Hearn: Haney Will Go To Australia
Kambosos, meanwhile, seems set on defending his belts against anyone as long as it takes place in his home of Australia.
And Haney is more than willing to fight on enemy territory against Kambosos according to Hearn.
“I think there’s absolutely no question that Devin Haney would go to Australia for that fight… Haney has no fear to go to Australia,” he added. “Sydney, Gold Coast, wherever it needs to be, we will be there.”
Do you agree with Eddie Hearn that this is the next fight to be made?
