Eddie Hearn Doesn’t Like Francis Ngannou’s Chances Against Top-Level Heavyweights
Eddie Hearn doesn’t think former UFC heavyweight champion, Francis Ngannou will do well in boxing.
After Ngannou became a free agent, he made it clear he wanted a boxing fight and both Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder expressed interest in making the fight happen. It would be a massive fight but according to Hearn, he doesn’t think Ngannou would do well.
“You cannot in a million years, with Francis Ngannou’s ability in boxing and pedigree in boxing, go in and compete technically [or] skill-wise [with a top rated boxer]. Not just with AJ, but with any top-twenty heavyweight in the world, but in that division, what the difference is, what you can do is you can knock someone out. So it doesn’t matter whether Francis fights Anthony Joshua, Tyson Fury, and I agree with you. Fury is a horrible fight for Francis Ngannou cause he’d just poke him around,” Hearn told The MMA Hour.
“Deontay Wilder, Dillian Whyte, Derek Chisora, Jermaine Franklin,” Hearn continued about Ngannou. “He has no chance against those guys other than to be aggressive, trade up, and catch someone clean and take them out. I think you’re right in your statement that people would give Francis a much better chance against AJ having watched that performance [against Jermaine Franklin] in your world.”
Although Eddie Hearn doesn’t think Francis Ngannou has much of a chance to beat any top heavyweights, the former champ will being a lot of eyeballs to his boxing fight. He has insane KO power and many fans would think if he lands he could be dangerous.
As of right now, Ngannou still has yet to book his boxing fight but when he does, Hearn will be picking against him.
