Eddie Hearn Doesn’t Think Terence Crawford Will Box Again
Eddie Hearn doesn’t think Terence Crawford will ever box again.
Crawford is 41-0 as a pro and coming off a decision win over Israil Madrimov. He has been calling for a fight with Canelo Alvarez, but that fight hasn’t happened, and according to Hearn, he believes if Crawford doesn’t get the fight with Alvarez he will never box again.
“This is the problem with [Terence] Crawford,” Hearn said. “I don’t think Crawford will ever fight again. Unless he gets the ‘Canelo’ Alvarez fight, I don’t think he’s motivated to fight. He’s made a load of money, and he’s not going to take short money for a tough fight – like a Vergil Ortiz fight – and I think that’s the same with Devin. It’s a bit where the money’s killed the game a little bit, because it’s just unrealistic to make certain fights. But the next move for Devin is very important.”
It is a bold prediction from Eddie Hearn, but Turki Alalshikh has also said he thinks Terence Crawford only wants Canelo Alvarez. Crawford has also made it clear that he is only after the Alvarez fight, as he wants to cement his legacy.
“Where I’m at right now, I’m looking at the fight that makes the most sense and that’s not Boots,” Crawford said. “Canelo is going to bring way more to my legacy; way more to my bank account. At the end of the day, when boxing is done with, what will we have? I wanna have a legacy that people talk about for ages, and not only that, I want a bank account that will last for ages.”
Terence Crawford has held multiple world championships in four weight classes, from lightweight to light middleweight. He was also the undisputed champion at light welterweight and welterweight.
In his career, Crawford holds notable wins over Errol Spence Jr., Shawn Porter, Kell Brook, Amir Khan, and Jeff Horn among others.
