Eddie Hearn Hoping To Announce Joshua vs. Fury Date, Venue In February
Matchroom Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn is looking to get the finer details sorted out for the highly-anticipated Anthony Joshua vs. Tyson Fury fight.
The pair are expected to meet each other twice this year with the first being a title unification clash set for May or June.
Both fighters have verbally agreed to the fight with Hearn previously stating that there were smaller issues to work out before it can be official.
As for the date and venue? Hearn is hoping to announce it early next month as he provided an update on negotiations.
“All I can tell you is things are looking nice,” Hearn told talkSPORT. “We’ve got a lot on our plate, but we’re working on the contracts now, working on the finer details with Bob Arum.
“I’m very confident you’re gonna see this fight this summer. I think both guys are all-in on this fight. The devil is always in the detail but both guys committed to make this fight.
“Hopefully early February we can give you a date and a venue as to where that fight will take place.”
That certainly is music to the ears of boxing fans as for the first time since the days of Lennox Lewis, we could finally have a unified heavyweight champion in the sport.
Hopefully, there are no further issues that spring up and prevent the fight from taking place.
Do you think we’ll finally see Joshua vs. Fury this year? Or are you still holding your breath?
