Eddie Hearn Provides Update On Possible Next Fight For Derek Chisora, Luis Ortiz In Talks
Derek Chisora has many options for his next fight.
Following Chisora’s defeat to Joseph Parker in their rematch, promoter Eddie Hearn spoke of a potential fight with former WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder.
He even believed Chisora — who he claimed only lost to elite level opposition — had a chance at beating Wilder if he survived the first few rounds.
Since then, there have been no real talks. The reason for that is Hearn stating it was just a throwaway comment.
“It was only a throwaway comment from me saying if the fight went four or five rounds, I think he’d beat Wilder,” Hearn told talkSPORT.
As for who Chisora could face next, Hearn is in talks with many fighters. The most notable of which includes Luis Ortiz.
“But it’s [Wilder] obviously a very dangerous fight at the same time,” Hearn added. “There’s been a few talks about Chisora against Luis Ortiz, with those guys. and I like that fight.
“Chisora against [Chris] Arreola. Chisora against Zhang Zhilei. He’s never in a bad fight and he wants to fight. He wants the biggest fights out there and we’re trying to find him one.”
Chisora may have lost his last three outings but they were all to top opposition. And if he ends up fighting Ortiz, it will be another elite level fighter he will be facing.
