Eddie Hearn Reveals Conor Benn vs. Manny Pacquiao Could Take Place In London
Eddie Hearn says Conor Benn vs. Manny Pacquiao may take place in England, depending on the level of interest.
Benn recently came out and expressed interest in a potential bout with Pacquiao as there are rumors he is ending his retirement. Benn has been named as a potential opponent and according to Hearn, the fight may take place in England, although Saudi Arabia is a potential location as well.
“Listen, we all want that fight, and obviously Manny flew in for talks and to watch the show in Saudi Arabia, so that’s what we’d like to do,” Hearn said to IFLTV. “We’re waiting for the Conor Benn announcement from the appeal. We were told it was going to be in two weeks, and it’s now nearly four weeks, so we’ll be hearing about that appeal any day.
“It’s not in our hands, it’s in the hands of the [British Boxing] Board [of Control] and their decision will determine where Conor Benn’s next fight will be because, quite frankly, we could do Conor Benn versus Pacquiao in a stadium in London,” Hearn added.
Although many fans have been critical of Manny Pacquiao fighting again, Eddie Hearn says the Conor Benn fight is one that does interest him.
“It’s a fight I like,” said Hearn. “I have seen people say, ‘Oh, he’s not the Manny Pacquiao of old’ – thank God for that. I think it’s a 50-50 fight at this stage.”
Manny Pacquiao is 62-8-2 and hasn’t fought professionally since August of 2021 when he lost by decision to Yordenis Ugas. Despite him being 45, Pacquiao could still be one of the top boxers at his weight and the fight against Benn is something Hearn and the Brit want.
