Eddie Hearn Reveals Derek Chisora And Other Fighters Have Received Offers To Face Tyson Fury In December
Eddie Hearn has revealed Derek Chisora and other fighters have received offers to fight Tyson Fury in December.
After Fury defeated Dillian Whyte he announced his retirement from the sport but has since said he will be coming back. The Brit wanted to fight Oleksandr Usyk but it didn’t come to fruition and he then turned his attention to Anthony Joshua. Yet, as the Joshua fight has stalled, Hearn has revealed Chisora has now gotten an offer to fight Fury.
“At the weekend, or Friday, Derek Chisora received a contract for the Tyson Fury fight,” Hearn said in a video posted on the Matchroom Boxing YouTube channel (via BoxingScene). “So have other fighters, so in our mind he’s not fighting Anthony Joshua.”
With Chisora getting an offer, Hearn also believes Fury has sent the contract to other fighters as well. With that, Eddie Hearn believes Tyson Fury no longer wants to fight Anthony Joshua in December so the attention has turned to other fighters.
“We’re more than happy to continue those conversations, but from what we’ve been told, the deadline has passed,” Hearn said. “Don’t blame Anthony Joshua for Tyson Fury pulling the plug twice on this fight,” Hearn continued. “We’ve sent the final version of the contract back. They’ll come back with points. And then we were told that the fight is off by the man himself (Fury). AJ’s training. He’s still ready for that date (Dec. 3) and we’ll see what happens.”
Derek Chisora is 33-12 and snapped his three-fight losing skid last time out as he beat Kubrat Pulev by split decision. Prior to that, he lost back-to-back decisions to Joseph Parker and dropped a decision to Oleksandr Usyk. He and Fury also fought back in 2014 with Fury winning by stoppage in the 10th round.
