Eddie Hearn Says Croke Park For Taylor-Serrano Rematch Possible With Conor McGregor’s Support
Eddie Hearn says he is looking at making the Katie Taylor vs. Amanda Serrano rematch happen at Croke Park with Conor McGregor looking to support the fight.
After Serrano defeated Erika Cruz in February it was confirmed she would rematch Taylor on May 20 in a massive rematch. The two fought at Madison Square Garden in one of the best fights of 2022 and after Taylor won a split decision, both sides wanted a rematch.
Now, as the rematch has been made, the last hurdle is the venue. Originally it was going to be an arena but Conor McGregor – the UFC superstar – told Hearn he would sponsor the fight if he could make it at Croke Park. Croke Park, of course, is a stadium and would allow thousands of more people to attend and Hearn says the meeting with McGregor went well.
“We talked about Croke Park,” Hearn said of his meeting with McGregor in an interview with iD Boxing. “We talked about how the fight would work, what the route is for Katie. We talked about other stuff as well. It does look likely that Taylor-Serrano will end up at 3Arena and then we’ll do a Croke Park fight in September with his support and hopefully the government’s support as well. But we’ll see what happens in the next couple of weeks. Just a really good day [with McGregor].”
If Taylor-Serrano 2 does happen at Croke Park it will make the rematch that much bigger and more anticipated. But, with the fight happening in May, time is running out to finalize the venue for the fight.
