Eddie Hearn Says Jake Paul Is Getting Better But Needs To Fight A Real Boxer Next
Eddie Hearn believes Jake Paul has gotten better from fight to fight.
Hearn promoted Paul’s professional debut but since then, he has taken shots at Paul saying any boxer on his roster would defeat him. Although many are critical of Paul facing former UFC fighters, Hearn says he thinks fighting Silva in his sixth pro fight is actually a good step up for Paul.
However, the Matchroom Boxing promoter believes Paul needs to face a real boxer next time out.
“I haven’t seen the fight, I’ve only seen the knockdown, but I think you have to give him credit. Yes, he’s not fighting any real boxers yet, and yes Anderson Silva was 48, but it’s still an opponent for your sixth fight of a level where most prospects are fighting at,” Hearn said to The DAZN Boxing Show. “I think Jake is improving, he’s working hard, he does a lot of things wrong in the ring, but he’s not a boxer, he hasn’t been boxing for years and years. Now Jake really has to fight a boxer. He’s never going to the credit that he maybe wants or deserves until he actually fights a professional boxer. I believe he wants to do that; I’m guessing he will do that next.”
Although Eddie Hearn believes Jake Paul needs to fight a real boxer next, he’s uncertain who it should be against. Paul tried to face Tommy Fury and Hasim Rahman Jr. but both didn’t make it to fight night which is why Paul has gone back to MMA fighters.
Jake Paul is now 6-0 as a pro and coming off a decision win over Anderson Silva. In the fight before, he had back-to-back wins over Tyron Woodley including one by KO. He also has a KO wins over Ben Askren, Nate Robinson and fellow YouTuber AnEsonGib.
