Eddie Hearn Says Joshua vs. Wilder Likely Won’t Happen Until March Or April
Eddie Hearn says a potential fight between Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder won’t be happening until possibly the beginning of quarter two of 2024.
Joshua vs. Wilder has been a fight many fans have wanted to see for years but for different reasons, it hasn’t come to fruition. As of late, it looked like the fight would happen, and could even happen in December.
However, Eddie Hearn claimed Joshua wants to box Wilder but that likely won’t happen until March or April.
“He wants to, he really wants to,” Hearn said in an interview with iFL TV. “We’ve been on calls with him all week. There’s a lot happening with the IBF situation. We’ll have to see. I think he’s going to fight in December or January. I think the Wilder fight, realistically, is not going to happen until March or April, at the latest. But he wants to fight. He wants to go back to camp and asked us to try and make him a fight for December, whether that spills into January we’ll see.”
The hope for Eddie Hearn and Anthony Joshua was for him to fight in December and then box Deontay Wilder in the first quarter of 2024. However, Joshua doesn’t have a fight booked, so right now, there is no definitive answer on what is next for him.
Anthony Joshua (26-3) is coming off a seventh-round KO win over Robert Helenius back in August. Prior to that, he snapped his two-fight losing skid as he beat Jermaine Franklin by decision after the back-to-back losses to Oleksandr Usyk to lose his heavyweight titles.
