Eddie Hearn Thinks YouTube Boxing Will Fizzle Out, Believes Jake Paul Should Fight McGregor & Retire
Eddie Hearn doesn’t think YouTube boxing will stay in the sport for long.
The latest edition saw Jake Paul defeat Tyron Woodley via split decision this past weekend in an event that looks to be trending pretty high.
And if Paul continues to face and beat better opponents with each fight, he, as well as YouTube boxing in general, will only get much bigger. He already believes he’s one of the faces of boxing.
Hearn, however, believes otherwise and even suggested what Paul’s next steps should be.
“I think it’s about to fizzle out,” he told iFL TV (via Michael Benson). “I think any novelty act only stays novel for a period of time. I think he should fight Conor McGregor. Make loads of money, it’s actually quite a good fight. And then walk off into the sunset.”
It’s not a bad plan and ideally, Paul would love to face McGregor next.
However, it likely won’t happen anytime in the near future. Until then, Paul can continue to work on his craft with each passing opponent. And hope he takes minimal damage along the way.
