Eddie Hearn Wants Demetrius Andrade To Face Golovkin Or Charlo Next
Eddie Hearn has spoken out about how both Jermall Charlo and Gennady Golovkin are avoiding big fights with their fellow champions such as Demetrius Andrade.
Andrade picked an impressive win over Liam Williams on the weekend, overcoming early adversity to pick up the decision victory. However, Matchroom Boxing Promoter, Eddie Hearn, believes that Andrade is more than ready for the opportunity to face some of his fellow champions.
In a post fight interview with DAZN, Hearn had the following to say:
“Firstly it was a great fight. Big props to Liam Williams. You know if your a champion watching that fight; firstly as Demetrius says, he’s done his job. It’s not his responsibility to convince the other champions to fight him. Champions are supposed to fight champions. You’ve got guys out there like Jermall Charlo. You know his brothers doing a great job. He’s going through the divisions, fighting champions. Jermall Charlo is fighting, um I can’t even remember his name. What’s his name… Juan Montiel. Well, I mean Conor McGregor said it best. I don’t know what he’s doing. He’s got an opportunity. If he doesn’t want to fight on DAZN with a massive offer, Demetrius will go and fight on FOX. It’s not a problem, it’s not expensive. It’s gonna cost him the same as Derevyanchenko.”
“Jermall Charlo against Demetrius Andrade is a big big fight. Two great American world champions. Why are the champions not looking to face Demetrius Andrade? He was hurt tonight, he was tired tonight. He can’t make 160 forever. If I’m Gennady Golovkin or Jermall Charlo I’m looking at him and going I can beat him. So why not step up. Gennady Golovkin, a great champion. He’s planning on a fight with Murata on December 31st, but why not fight Andrade in the summer, in a unification fight.”
Fights against both Charlo and Golovkin would no doubt be hugely popular from a fan perspective. However, neither fighter has yet issued a response to Hearn’s interview.
