Edgar Berlanga Shares Prediction For Canelo Alvarez Fight
Edgar Berlanga has shared his prediction for his bout against Canelo Alvarez on Saturday in Las Vegas.
Berlanga is set to take on Alvarez in the biggest fight of his career. He is a sizeable underdog against the Mexican, but despite the odds, Berlanga has full confidence he will get his hand raised and believes he will KO Alvarez.
“I’m going to knock him out in the sixth round,” Berlanga said, via BoxingScene. “He told me he’s got me in the eighth. I’ve got him in the sixth… It’s going to be a war. It’s Puerto Rico against Mexico. It’s something for the history books. As far as Team Canelo, we always have respect for him, for his accolades and what he’s done in the ring, but on Saturday it’s a fight. He’s going in there to hurt me, and I’ve got to go in there and hurt him.”
Edgar Berlanga also believes the wear and tear of boxing will catch up to Alvarez as he wonders if the Mexican will be as durable as he has been. With that, Berlanga expects to get a stoppage win on Saturday to shock the world.
“He has 60-something fights, so that’s 60-something camps,” Berlanga said. “There’s a lot of wear and tear on him. He’s getting older. He’s not getting younger. He can say what he wants, but this Saturday, there’s nothing left to talk about. Everything he was saying, everything I was talking … now it’s time to back it up.”
Edgar Berlanga, meanwhile, is 22-0 as a pro and coming off a TKO win over Padraig McCrory back in February. He has notable wins over Jason Quigley, Roamer Alexis Angulo, and Steve Rolls among others.
Alvarez, meanwhile, is 61-2-2 as a pro and coming off a decision loss to Jaime Munguia back in May. The Mexican is set to defend his WBA, WBC and WBO super middleweight titles against Berlanga on Saturday.
