Errol Spence Jr. Explains Why He Thinks Terence Crawford Fight Is Biggest Bout In Boxing In Last 20 Years
Errol Spence Jr. says his upcoming boxing match against Terence Crawford is the biggest bout in boxing in quite some time.
Spence Jr. and Crawford are two of the best pound-for-pound boxers in the sport and are set to fight on July 29 in their prime in Las Vegas. It’s a highly-anticipated match and Spence Jr. knows the fight is a legacy fight for both men.
Along with it being a legacy fight, Errol Spence Jr. says his bout against Terence Crawford is the biggest fight in the last 20 years.
“This is a legacy fight for me. This is Ray Leonard-Thomas Hearns. This is Oscar De La Hoya-Felix Trinidad,” Spence told a group of reporters (h/t BoxingScene). “This is a legacy fight. Two undefeated fighters fighting for [the] undisputed [championship at 147 pounds]. This is probably the biggest fight of the last 10 to 20 years. Everyone says the Floyd Mayweather-Manny Pacquiao fight was huge, but they were a lot older. We’re in our prime. This is going to be an amazing fight. Everybody knows he has knockout power, and I have knockout power. So we’re going to put on an amazing show and an amazing performance.”
Spence Jr. makes a point that he and Crawford are in their prime and are fighting when fans want compared to when Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao fought. With that, it only adds to the stakes of their match which will be must-watch.
Errol Spence Jr. is 28-0 and coming off a TKO win over Yordenis Ugas back in April 2022. Prior to that, he beat Danny Garcia, Shawn Porter, and Mikey Garcia.
Terence Crawford, meanwhile, is 39-0 and coming off a sixth-round TKO win over David Avanesyan. In his career, he holds notable wins over Porter, Kell Brook, Amir Khan, and Jeff Horn among others.
