Errol Spence Jr. Plans For Rematch With Terence Crawford: ‘I’m A Lot Better Than What I Showed’
Errol Spence Jr. knows he didn’t fight to the best of his ability on Saturday night.
Spence Jr. and Terence Crawford were fighting for the unified welterweight titles in a highly-anticipated fight. Crawford was a slight betting favorite but he dominated the scrap as he dropped Spence Jr. three times to get the ninth-round TKO.
The loss was disappointing for Spence Jr. but he says he will likely trigger his immediate rematch clause as he knows he is better than what he showed.
“I know I’m a lot better than what I showed tonight,” Spence Jr. said. “And I know that a lotta things was off with me … even though Terence Crawford did what he was supposed to do. He was sharp and he was on point, and he made sure he was a hundred percent ready in this fight.”
According to Errol Spence Jr., he says his timing was off which is why Terence Crawford was able to drop him and hurt him.
“I got a feel for his power probably like first, second round,” Spence Jr. said. “You know, he’s a strong dude, but you know, everybody at this top level have some type of power. But I think because my timing was off he was catching me in between shots… Nothing really surprised me. He was just like I thought. Just my timing wasn’t good today.”
