Errol Spence Jr. vs. Yordenis Ugas Expected In Spring 2022
Errol Spence Jr. and Yordenis Ugas could clash in a couple of months.
It was revealed last month that the WBA had granted title-holder Ugas permission to pursue a three-belt welterweight title unification clash with Spence.
That was after Eimantas Stanionis notably agreed to step aside as he will face WBA (Regular) champion Radzhab Butaev instead.
And as per both Spence and Ugas, the fight could take place in the spring.
“The fight’s in April,” Spence said on Instagram (via DAZN). “Man down, strap season. He already know what time it is.”
Although Ugas didn’t have a specific month, the timeline is more or less the same.
“We are targeting March or April for the fight,” Ugas told Fox Sports. “It’s a fight for three titles. It’s a fight that we want and are targeting the springtime.”
Errol Spence Jr. vs. Yordenis Ugas For Three Titles
While Ugas holds the WBA title, Spence is the owner of the WBC and IBF welterweight titles.
Although many would have preferred to see him fight WBO champion Terence Crawford next, this isn’t the worst alternative as he can go one step closer to unifying the division by holding three belts.
Ugas, however, is not to be underestimated as shown by his impressive performance against Manny Pacquiao back in August.
