Errol Spence vs. Danny Garcia Betting Preview
Errol Spence will compete for the first time since his car accident earlier this year when he defends his welterweight titles against Danny Garcia tonight.
‘The Truth’ hasn’t fought since edging out a split decision win over Shawn Porter in December 2019 to claim the WBC welterweight title. Garcia has been on the comeback trail since losing his title to Porter in 2018. ‘Swift’ has taken two lower-level fights against Adrian Granados and Ivan Redkach to prepare for his latest title tilt against Spence.

The favourite – Errol Spence Jr.
Spence enters this fight a massive favourite at odds of -450. Unless you’re a seriously high roller there really is no value in betting on him to win outright. The odds may seem wide considering the calibre of his opponent but Spence has looked pretty flawless throughout his career – besides his 2019 fight of the year contender against Porter.
So, if there’s no money to be made from betting on him to win, what about to score a knockout? If you are betting on a Spence KO win your odds will dramatically improve with the bookmakers pricing it at +300. However, there’s a reason for this. Garcia is tough as they come and has never been knocked out and has never been dropped in his 38-fight professional career. Spence is a big puncher but is not necessarily known for one-punch knockout power. It seems likely that Garcia will be able to hear the final bell tonight. Spence by decision seems the most likely outcome and at odds of -150 you don’t have to break to bank to beat the bookmakers.
The Underdog – Danny Garcia
Garcia is a big underdog heading into this one but a very live one in our opinion, especially at borderline disrespectful odds of +330. ‘DSG’ has won titles at two different weight classes and holds several high-profile wins. Garcia has got pop in his punches and can certainly trouble Spence who for all we know could still be feeling the effects of his fairly recent brush with death. If Spence isn’t on top form he could get knocked out and at odds of +800 its certainly worth having a small wager on Garcia to make this happen. Or perhaps he’ll get it done over 12 rounds and the odds of him doing it via the judges are +600.
Prediction
Ultimately, we at Boxing Daily think Spence will get this done by unanimous decision. Garcia is tough, game and talented but will likely be outgunned by one of the pound-for-pound best tonight. However, that doesn’t mean we won’t be dropping a least a little bit of cash on Garcia – just in case.
