Floyd Mayweather Hints At ‘Exhibitions’ In 2022
Floyd Mayweather has hinted at a return to the ring in 2022.
Mayweather returned in June of 2021 in an exhibition match against YouTuber and social media influencer, Logan Paul. The fight was a massive success and on Thursday, Mayweather hinted at some massive news in the works for 2022 including exhibitions.
“We got a lot going on,” Mayweather said in a video posted on his Instagram account. “2022. Events, exhibitions, and big business. We can’t be stopped. The Money team. Be on the lookout, right here, in Dubai.”
The news does catch some by surprise as after his exhibition bout against Paul, the 44-year-old Mayweather said he had fun in there but that was it for him.
“I had fun. You’ve got to realize I’m not 21 anymore,” Mayweather said after the fight. “He was strong, tough and better than I thought he was. I was surprised by him tonight… “Absolutely not, I’m retired from the sport of boxing. I said this before, it’s not easy. I mean even for this fight. Train a day, take a couple of days, train a day, take a couple of days off because of the age and the wear and tear.”
Despite him technically being retired from boxing, Floyd Mayweather hasn’t shied away from mega-exhibition fights or spectacle fights as evidenced by his bout against Paul, Tenshin Nasukawa, and his final pro fight against Conor McGregor.
Mayweather ended his pro career with a record of 50-0 and is considered to be one of, if not the best boxer ever. He holds notable wins over Canelo Alvarez, Manny Pacquiao, Oscar De La Hoya, Shane Mosley, Andre Berto, Ricky Hatton, and countless others.
Regardless of who he faces in an exhibition when Mayweather steps into the boxing ring, it’s a mega-event and one that the world will watch.
