Floyd Mayweather Praises ‘Elite Boxing Coach’ Mark Breland Who Was Fired By Deontay Wilder
Floyd Mayweather has praised Mark Breland, who is the former coach of Deontay Wilder.
Breland threw in the towel in the rematch of Fury vs. Wilder and after the fight, “The Bronze Bomber” fired Breland, which many were critical of. He was replaced by Malik Scott, but the changes didn’t change the result of the trilogy as Fury scored an 11th-round KO win over Wilder.
Mayweather, meanwhile, has nothing but praise for the coach, as he took to social media to tell people to follow and support Breland.
“Please hit the follow button if you want to follow a humble student, teacher, mentor, and coach in the sport of boxing,” Mayweather wrote. “He has all the credentials and qualifications to support why I recognize him as an elite boxing coach, something that nowadays many unqualified people claim to be.”
Having Mayweather praise him is no doubt great news for Mark Breland who had his character take a hit after the things Wilder said about him. However, the coach also took shots at the former heavyweight champ and said his career was over.
“His career is done now, I’m done and he’s done, I’m done with him. He’s got a lot of power but that’s all, I wish him well and that’s it. He’s only got his power and we’ll see how far that takes him. That’s all I’m going to say,” Breland said (via DailyMail). “I’d been working with him since he turned pro and nothing had happened until [the defeat]. Some people can’t take a loss; don’t blame everybody else, go back and think about yourself.”
