Floyd Mayweather ‘Proud’ Of Nate Robinson, Hits Out At NBA Players Mocking Him
Floyd Mayweather was proud of Nate Robinson despite his knockout defeat to Jake Paul.
The former NBA point guard made his professional boxing debut against the popular YouTuber this past weekend.
However, he put in an amateur performance to say the least as he rushed Paul a number of times with his hands down before getting knocked down towards the end of the first round.
Robinson made it to the second round but would get knocked down again before being put to sleep with a right hook from Paul who earned the emphatic knockout victory as a result.
The manner of Robinson’s defeat turned him into an internet meme with many — including some stars from the NBA — mocking and trolling him.
Mayweather, on the other hand, congratulated Robinson for making the effort and addressed some of the NBA stars mocking him in a recent Instagram post.
“Nate, I’m proud of you and I will always stand behind all my brothers. I will never kick my brother when he’s down. It’s ok for people to voice their opinions on social media, but no black athletes or black entertainers, especially black NBA players should make a mockery out of you. We are supposed to all stand with each other through the good, bad and ugly. I’m here to uplift you and let you know we all love you and congratulate you for just making an effort.
SIDENOTE: The times I’ve had issues with another brother is when they came at me first. I was just defending myself.”
Mayweather would also add that he offered to train Robinson.
“For those who are commenting on me training him, I did offer to train him.”
Mayweather is no stranger to being controversial but it’s nice to see the former five-weight boxing champion come to the defense of Robinson.
