Floyd Mayweather vs. Aaron Chalmers Exhibition Bout Set For February 25 In London
Floyd Mayweather is set to return for an exhibition match on February 25.
It was announced that Mayweather will return at the O2 Arena in London, England as he takes on MMA fighter Aaron Chalmers in an exhibition match.
“I was originally supposed to face a different opponent, but injuries happen and I’m glad that Aaron Chalmers could step up so that we could give the fans what they want,” Mayweather said. “The fans in the U.K. have always been great to me and supported me throughout my career, so an event like this has been a long time coming. I’m excited to add more history to the O2 Arena in London.”
Originally, Mayweather was supposed to say Muay Thai star Liam Harrison but Harrison was forced out of the exhibition bout due to a knee injury. With that, Mayweather turned to Chalmers who is excited about the opportunity to face Mayweather.
“I’ve been training with Adam Booth in the boxing gym and I’m eager to make a name for myself in the boxing world,” said Chalmers. “I jumped on this opportunity immediately. It’s an honor to share the ring with one of the greatest fighters of all time and I’m definitely going to take advantage of it.”
Floyd Mayweather (50-0) has not fought professionally since he beat Conor McGregor by TKO in 2017 but has been doing exhibition matches since then. After he announced his retirement, he said he would still do exhibition matches to make money and was facing YouTubers like Logan Paul and Deji.
Aaron Chalmers (5-2 MMA) has fought four times in Bellator and has a 2-2 record in the promotion after starting out his career 3-0 in BAMMA. Chalmers was also on Geordie Shore and is a UK TV personality.
