Floyd Wants NAC To ‘Let Nick Diaz Smoke Weed & Enjoy His Life’
Just about every prominent personality in the world of MMA has weighed in with their emotional opinion of the Nevada Athletic Commission (NAC)’s five-year suspension of Nick Diaz for his third positive test for marijuana after a decision loss in the main event of January’s UFC 183.
Now, it appears that boxing’s most prominent figure has an opinion, as well.
Speaking up during a short video spot on his official Youtube channel, pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather Jr. gave support to Diaz, suggesting that the NAC just let him ‘enjoy his life’:
“Huh? Man, let that man smoke weed and enjoy his life.”
That seems to be the general consensus among most who believe the NAC was simply trying to make an example out of Diaz and/or act out a personal vendetta against him, but there are still some gray ares in the arguments of those who believe the Commission took away his right to make a living.
Diaz didn’t seem all that motivated to be a fighter during the last three years of his career, returning for one big fight each year to collect a huge paycheck before ‘retiring’ after a loss in all three high-profile bouts.
So while there’s no doubt that the NAC showed some gross inconsistencies in punishing MMA fighters and badly opened themselves up to the subsequent crticism, it also appears that Diaz wanted to ‘smoke his weed and enjoy his life’ more than fight, just as Mayweather suggested.
And now, unless the appeal from Diaz’ lawyer Lucas Middlebrook is approved, the Stockton Bad Boy is going to have plenty of time to smoke his weed and enjoy life whether he likes it or not.
