Frank Martin Believes He Can Win A Decision Against Gervonta Davis
Frank Martin knows Gervonta Davis can be outboxed, so he feels confident he will be able to do just that and win a decision.
Martin is set to box Davis on Saturday night, and heading into the fight, Davis is a sizeable betting favorite. Although Martin is the underdog, he has confidence he will be able to get his hand raised as he likes his chances to outbox Davis to win a decision.
“Don’t slip up, don’t run into something,” Martin said. “If he (does), you’re all going to see Gervonta Davis knocked out. If he comes in and acts crazy, he’s going to sleep… Yeah, we know he’s always getting outboxed by guys. Even in his last fight (a knockout of Ryan Garcia), he was getting out-boxed. We’ve just got to go 12 rounds.”
Although Martin thinks he can outbox Davis and win a decision, he knows he has to respect the power. Martin says he needs to be 100% focused the entire time as he knows Davis can KO anyone, but he has confidence in himself.
“You’ve gotta be woke,” Martin said. “Every second of every round. Gotta be alert. Gotta have your eyes open. Fighting is 80 percent mental, 20 percent physical. They play a good game at throwing guys off mentally. Everything that’s been going on has been prepping me for what could go on mentally. I’m prepared for it. When it comes my way, I’m ready.”
Frank Martin is 18-0 and coming off a decision win over Artem Harutyunyan by decision. Before that, he beat Michel Rivera, Jackson Marinez, and Romero Duno.
