Frank Warren Believes Daniel Dubois Is In A Position To Get Big Fights
Frank Warren is confident Daniel Dubois will only be getting big fights from here on out.
Dubois became the new WBA’s “regular” heavyweight title with a knockout of Trevor Bryan and followed it up with a come-from-behind stoppage of Kevin Lerena. However, he suffered an injury during the fight and there is no telling when he will be able to fight again, but Warren says when Dubois returns it will be for a big fight.
“He [Dubois] is in a position now where he is going to be in big fights. I mean we were trying to do the Dillian Whyte fight last year but because of the moving around, sodding around with the AJ fight, that got moved and I wished it hadn’t of got moved, I wish we could have done that fight. Who knows we may be able to do it [in 2023],” Warren told Seconds Out. “I want to keep him busy, I want to keep Joe Joyce busy because they are all quality fighters. At the end of the day they will probably end up wanting to fight each other anyway.”
Daniel Dubois is the mandatory challenger for Oleksandr Usyk, yet with Usyk supposed to face Tyson Fury, Dubois may need to fight before. Yet, regardless if he has to fight again, Frank Warrens says Daniel Dubois deserves a big fight.
“We have got to move very quickly because we are looking to get this on in early March. So we need to move quickly – all of us. We are all on the same page as far as that is concerned, getting it done quickly so we can then announce it and get it on sale,” Warren said.
Dubois is 19-1 with his lone loss to Joe Joyce but does hold notable wins over Kevin Johnson, Bogdan Dinu, and Nathan Gorman among others.
