Frank Warren Plans To Meet With Francis Ngannou To Discuss Working Together
Frank Warren was so impressed with Francis Ngannou that he now wants to help promote the former UFC heavyweight champion.
Ngannou made his boxing debut on Saturday in Saudi Arabia as he took on Tyson Fury, who is a heavyweight champ and arguably the top pound-for-pound fighter in the sport. Entering the fight, many expected Fury to cruise to a win, but Ngannou dropped the Brit and fought him very competitively.
Ultimately, it was Tyson Fury who edged out a split decision and after the fight, Frank Warren says he plans on meeting with Francis Ngannou to try and promote him.
“He has come out of this a huge star, a hero,” Warren told Boxing News. “He is now in a position to be in massive fights and I will have a meeting with him and his people about working together. The rematch could end up being as big as the Usyk fight. “I will offer him a top-level fight,” Warren said. “He is solid, an athlete. He’ll get into the top 10 after that and based on that performance, I would give him a shot against anyone in the top 10 and I think he’d beat at least five of them right now. He’d beat Manuel Charr all day long; him and Joe Joyce would be a good fight.”
After Francis Ngannou’s showing, the WBC president said he would be ranked in the top 10 at heavyweight after this fight. Given how closely he fought Fury, Ngannou will likely be in for a few more big fights and big paydays, so Warren is hoping to help promote him.
Whether or not Francis Ngannou has any interest in working with Frank Warren is uncertain.
