Frank Warren Reveals Tyson Fury Fight Date, Dillian Whyte Update
We have a date for the next Tyson Fury fight.
Fury is expected to defend his WBC heavyweight title against the interim champion in Dillian Whyte in an all-British affair.
As for when it will happen? The date is March 26th according to Fury’s co-promoter Frank Warren (via Michael Benson).
But with that said, there are currently no talks between Fury’s side and Whyte’s side regarding a deal in making the fight.
If there is no deal struck before January 11, the fight will go to purse bids.
“Frank Warren has stated that Tyson Fury’s next fight will take place on March 26th. He added that there are currently no talks with Dillian Whyte’s team about a deal – purse bids are scheduled for Tuesday, Jan 11th.”
Tyson Fury To Get 80/20 Purse Split
It looked like the fight wouldn’t happen given negotiations and issues Whyte had with the WBC.
But while there are currently no talks between the two sides, a fight will happen at the least on March 26th regardless if it goes to purse bids.
Things were expedited when the WBC confirmed that Fury would get an 80/20 split of the purse in a potential fight with Whyte.
That was a blow for Whyte who was looking for 45 percent. Nonetheless, he will have his first shot at becoming a heavyweight champion.
Should he become the first to inflict defeat on Fury, he will be able to call the shots as champion should a rematch take place afterward.
