Frank Warren Says Tyson Fury Is Disappointed Anthony Joshua Fight Didn’t Happen, Uncertain Where It Goes
Frank Warren says Tyson Fury is disappointed the rumored Anthony Joshua fight won’t come to fruition.
Fury and Joshua were in an agreement to fight on December 3 at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales. However, on Monday, Fury said Joshua did not sign the deal in time and he called the fight off.
“Well, guys, it’s official – D-Day has come and gone,” Fury said in a video posted to his Instagram account. “It’s gone past 5 o’clock Monday [in the UK]. No contract has been signed [by Joshua]. It’s officially over for Joshua. He is now out in the cold, with the wolfpack. Forget about it. Idiot! Coward! Always knew he didn’t have the minerals to fight ‘The Gypsy King.’ Good luck with your career and your life. End of [story]. Peace out.”
It is rumored Fury will now face Mahmoud Charr, however, Frank Warren who co-promotes the heavyweight champ isn’t certain what is next for him. He says he has yet to talk to Fury since the deadline passed but knows the Brit is disappointed.
“That’s Tyson’s last word and that’s where we’re at. I’ve not even spoken to him today, he’s very, very disappointed, so we’ll see,” Warren told Talk Sport. “For me, he’s set a deadline that was ten days after he sent the contract and a few people have said that it doesn’t make sense, but it’s ten days. You get a transfer deadline in football and sometimes there’s a scramble last-minute to get players and get it over the line, that’s what should have been happening. We’ll see where it goes, but at the moment I feel that we are where we are with it.”
Tyson Fury (32-0-1) is coming off a TKO win over Dillian Whyte and after the fight, he announced his retirement from the sport. However, the retirement was short-lived as he will now be coming back. Prior to the win over Whyte, he had back-to-back knockout wins over Deontay Wilder to end their trilogy with a bang.
What do you think will be next for Tyson Fury?
