Frank Warren Shares High Hopes For Mark Chamberlain-Sam Noakes Fight
Boxing promoter Frank Warren has high expectations for a potential fight between Mark Chamberlain and Sam Noakes.
Noakes improved to 14-0 in April with a one-sided win over Yvan Mendy. It was a great performance, and since that fight, Warren believes every passing day makes the fight against Chamberlain that much bigger.
“The last fight, I genuinely feel that he could have stopped his opponent,” Warren told Queensberry. “But that was a really good win for him, and he showed another side of his ability and his great boxing brain that he’s got. He boxed extremely well.
“He’s a lovely guy as well. He’s one of the guys that we all like at Queensberry and there are some big fights to be made for him down the road. Him and Mark Chamberlain is a fight that I’m sure over the next 12 months is going to build into being a monster. He’s a top 10-rated fighter and he’s going places. He’s a really nice guy to work with and he gets it. I do think he’s capable of winning a world title. I really do think and believe that.”
Sam Noakes is 14-0 and is the European lightweight champion as well as previously holding the Commonwealth lightweight belt and British lightweight title.
Mark Chamberlain, meanwhile, is 16-0 as a pro and is set to face Josh Padley in September. If Chamberlain gets the win, Warren thinks the bout against Noakes becomes massive, and he thinks it can happen within a year.
“I think it’ll happen in the next 12 months. What I’d like it to be is for a world title fight,” Warren said.” They’re there to be able to go and do it, both of them. It’d be nice if they could both win a world title and then have a unification. That’d be my dream.”
