Frank Warren admits Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk 2 was closer than he remembered
Frank Warren has admitted that Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk 2 was closer than he remembered, after initially believing it was a “nuts” decision.
Over the years, Frank Warren has been by the side of Tyson Fury through thick and thin. From his personal issues to setbacks inside the ring, he has stuck up for him every step of the way. As we know, earlier this month, Fury came up short in his attempt to defeat Usyk in their rematch, losing via decision for the second time.
In the immediate aftermath, Frank Warren made it clear that he didn’t agree with the decision. Tyson Fury did the same, implying that he was never going to win the fight if it went to the scorecards.
Now, however, in a recent interview, Warren has had a change of heart.
Frank Warren changes tune
“I still feel that Tyson won it, I think it’s much closer than I thought the first time, but I still thought he won it,” the 72-year-old told Box Nation.
“I watched it again, and a lot of people involved in the sport who I consider to be quite knowledgeable, and I consider myself to be quite knowledgeable, having been doing it for 47 years and guided god knows how many champions in my time, I don’t see how one of the judges did not give Tyson one of the last seven rounds.
“I cannot see that. I watched it back and the other two judges each gave him a round each. I don’t understand that.
“It was a close fight, like the first fight. I thought Tyson would be stopping him this time, but it didn’t happen.”
