Gennady Golovkin Issues Life Threatening Warning To Oscar De La Hoya
Gennady Golovkin, better known as GGG is set for his 43rd professional bout this Friday, in a mandatory title defence.
He will look to defend his IBF and IBO middleweight world titles, against Poland’s undefeated Kamil Szeremeta.
Known for his calm nature outside of the ring, GGG has recently bitten back at recent comments made by former 11 time world champion, Oscar De La Hoya.
De La Hoya has teased a comeback to the ring in recent months, with a few opponents in mind.
The Golden Boy CEO took aim at GGG, believing he would be an easy opponent for him
“You know how easy GGG would be for me? Oh, my gosh,” De La Hoya said.
“I always took a good shot and I always took apart fighters like him. In my mind it would be that easy.”
The comments seemed to have gotten under GGG’s skin, sparking a response from the 38-year-old.
“You know Oscar, you know how dirty his mouth is,” Golovkin said.
“He can say whatever. But let me put it this way, if I got an opportunity to legally kill a person in the ring, I might seize it.”
De La Hoya hasn’t fought since his loss to Manny Pacquiao, back in 2008.
It resulted in an eight-round demolition victory for Pac-Man, concluding De la Hoya’s career, with a record of 39-6.
With De La Hoya being absent from the ring for 12-years, it would be hard to side with him if this fight ever happened.
Especially considering GGG is one of the most prolific, skilful, hard-hitting boxers in the world right now.
Do you think it would be an easy victory for Gennady Golovkin?
