Gennady Golovkin Says Ronda Rousey Is The Best Female Athlete In The World

Middleweight wrecking machine Gennady Golovkin is set to make his HBO Boxing PPV (pay-per-view) debut tomorrow night (October 17, 2015) in a highly anticipated title unification bout with Canadian slugger Daniel Lemieux from Madison Square Garden in New York City.

The bout has been receiving quite a bit of attention, and for good reason as “GGG” is one of the most feared men in boxing going up against one of his stiffest tests to date. That being said, the Kazakh born knockout artist has appeared in the media quite a bit lately and recently spoke on UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey.

Apparently the two superstars have previously trained in boxing together, and Golovkin had nothing but positive things to say about the undefeated champion:

“I know her; we’ve been training maybe two, three times together in boxing gym,” Golovkin told MMAjunkie. “She is nice lady. She’s great athlete. She’s the best female athlete in the world. She’s a beautiful lady and beautiful person. I like her. She’s tough.”

Although she is most known for her decorated grappling background, specifically her Olympic level Judo, Rousey has improved immensely in the striking area, and her skills were put on display last August when she knocked out Bethe Correia in just 34 seconds at UFC 190.

“GGG” was impressed with not only the performance, but with the technical skills of Rousey as well:

“She’s good,” Golovkin said. “Beautiful performance. She has great technical (skills).”

The dominant bantamweight champion spoke on Golovkin also, expressing her positive feelings towards the way “GGG” has handled his career:

“I couldn’t say better things about him with how he conducts himself in the ring, how he conducts himself as a man,” Rousey said. “I mean, I don’t think he could do it any better.”

A natural star due to his bone shattering power, Golovkin has the chance to step it up a notch on PPV tomorrow night against a legitimate threat. Will he extend his knockout streak to 21-straight in the Big Apple?
