Gervonta Davis Demolishes Punching Bag To Beat Deontay Wilder’s Punching Power
Gervonta Davis apparently hits harder than Deontay Wilder.
Davis, who competes at super featherweight, lightweight, and super lightweight, took on the PBC boxing punch bag after he claimed he was the hardest hitter. The video was back from 2019 but has just been re-circulating due to the fact Davis beat Wilder’s score.
Deontay Wilder recorded an incredible 927 and many thought Davis had no shot due to the size difference. Yet, when “Tank” hit it he got 939 to beat Wilder.
Davis is coming off an 11th-round TKO win over Mario Barrios to become the new WBA super-lightweight champion. However, according to reports, the pay-per-view only sold 200k, which was the first time Davis headlined a PPV event on his own.
Gervonta Davis is supposed to return in October and has a plethora of options. He could fight Ryan Garcia, Devin Haney, or defend his super-lightweight belt. However, Garcia is vying for the fight and Oscar De La Hoya said he wants to make that scrap.
“We’re never going to stop any fighter from making history. From making money. From building their legacy,” De La Hoya said on the 3 knockdown rule podcast. “We’re just hear to accommodate and put everything together….Look. He (Garcia) wants it now. Garcia wants it now. And, if that’s what he wants, then that’s what we’ll give him. We’ll make that (Davis fight) happen, if he wants it now. If he wants it, 2, 3, 4 fights from now? Whatever he wants. We’re here to accommodate.”
Garcia has also been vocal about wanting to fight Davis and there’s no question it would be a massive PPV event between two of the brightest stars in boxing.
“I want to be a man of my word. I want to fight ‘Tank’ (Davis). I’m ready for it. This fight I put down an Olympic Gold Medalist (Campbell). Lomachenko couldn’t stop him. Linares couldn’t finish him. I showed today, I’m special.”
