Gervonta Davis, Ryan Garcia Agree To Fight In Heated Back-And-Forth On Mike Tyson’s Podcast
Gervonta Davis and Ryan Garcia had a heated exchange on Mike Tyson‘s podcast that led them to agree to fight one another.
After Garcia picked up the biggest win of his career with a TKO win over Luke Campbell, he became the interim WBC lightweight champion, but called out Gervonta Davis. Garcia wasn’t interested in fighting Devin Haney, despite being the mandatory, and instead claimed he would finish Davis inside two rounds.
“I don’t have time for celebrations,” Garcia said to TMZ Sports. “I’m on one mission. I’m on a mission to knock out Gervonta Davis in 2 rounds … This man will go down. 2 rounds — that’s a promise!!”
Although there has been no word of either man’s next fight, Garcia appeared on Mike Tyson’s podcast where Tyson FaceTimed Davis, and the two had a heated exchange.
Davis said: “Mike, he got dropped by a guy that can’t even hit.”
Garcia replied: “You’re 5’5″. You’re going to need a ladder to hit me. You’re going to need a StairMaster. You won’t be able to touch me. You ain’t never fought a 135-[pounder] in your life. This is different. I don’t care what you say. You ain’t got nothing.”
Davis responded: “Mike, Mike! If I would’ve hit him, you know I would’ve killed him after that.”
Ryan Garcia is now 21-0 as a pro with 18 knockouts. Before the win over Campbell, many wondered just how good the 22-year-old is. But, after he TKO’d the Brit, he proved he is one of the best lightweights in the world and will get a big fight next time out.
Gervonta Davis, meanwhile, is 24-0 and coming off a highlight-reel KO win over Leo Santa Cruz to win the WBA (Super) super featherweight title. He also holds the WBA (Super) lightweight title.
Who do you think would win, Ryan Garcia or Gervonta Davis if they do end up fighting?
