Darts Star Gerwyn Price Set To Make Boxing Debut
Gerwyn Price has surprised the boxing world.
Price, the former darts champion, who could also have made it big in rugby, has announced he will have his first fight on April 9. The 36-year-old revealed on social media that he will take on Rhys ‘Cool Fly & Flashy’ Evans for his boxing debut at the Valley Tavern in Fleur De Lys, but he will need to lose 10kg for the fight to happen, he revealed.
Not only is Price having this charity boxing match, but it will also happen in between two rounds of Premier League action. Price is due to face James Wade in Leeds in April 7 and Peter Wright in Manchester one week later on April 10 and could do at least two more matches before that.
Price had success in rugby but boxing is a much different sport so it’s uncertain how he will fare. But, it is an exhibition bout so it’s likely they also won’t go as hard as possible.
Gerwyn Price is the current number one ranked darts player in the world and is the 2021 champion. However, even with him doing a boxing match, it’s likely he will stick to darts, especially give his age.
