Heavyweight Prospect Jared ” The Real Big Baby ” Anderson Is Not About To Change His Nickname
Don’t even think about asking Jared Anderson (4-0, 4 KO) to change his” The Real Big Baby’ moniker following the recent news of compatriot Jarrell Miller’s failed drug test. The 20-year-old rising prospect who, like Miller, goes by the alias of ‘Big Baby’ took to Twitter to let people know that it is a no-go, as far as he is concerned.
Anderson, who has made an impressive start to his pro career, is scheduled to return to the ring against an as-yet-unnamed opponent on Top Rank’s upcoming card this Thur. July 9.
It remains to be seen how far he goes, but the Toledan who stands 6″4″ and whose reach is 78½″ has all the physical attributes of a future contender in boxing’s blue-ribbon division, the fact that he is also an aggressive fighter unafraid of pushing the pace adds another tick beside his name. What is exciting about Anderson is that at just 20 years of age, there is still plenty of time for him to develop both physically and technically.
Anderson’s most recent outing was on July 9 against Johnnie Langston (8-3, 3 KO). The bout took place on Top Rank Boxing’s first card of its summer series and saw Anderson stop Langston in the third. The fact that the promotion has booked him again so soon indicates the confidence they have in him.
Miller may be generating the bulk of the headlines recently but do not be surprised if by this time next year there is only one’ Big Baby” boxing fans are talking about.
How far do you think Anderson could go in the heavyweight division?
