Is Daniel Dubois on Course for an Undisputed Title Shot in 2025?
Daniel Dubois stunned the boxing world with his incredible knockout victory over Anthony Joshua in September. Next, he will face a rematch against his compatriot, but after that could he be in line for an undisputed world title shot?
Dubois has suffered many ups and downs in his career so far, but he has always remained on a gradual upward trajectory. He fell short against Joe Joyce in 2020 and Oleksandr Usyk in 2023 which left many believing his future did not lie at the peak of the heavyweight division. However, his latest win at the expense of Joshua may have created a platform for him to finally reach the top of the sport.
Dubois Is Expected to Beat Joshua Again
Dubois is fully expected to beat Joshua for a second consecutive time in December. When betting on sports for one of the biggest fights of the year, Dubois is a -225 favorite. It’s expected that Dubois will secure a win against Joshua later this year, especially after he completely dominated their opening fight. The London-born fighter’s raw power and explosiveness were far too much for Joshua to handle, which was remarkable considering the latter was once renowned for those traits more than anybody else in the sport.

Dubois and Joshua ultimately seem to be embarking on totally different timelines; Dubois is still heading toward his peak, while Joshua is undoubtedly on the decline. A win for the former in the rematch almost seems inevitable considering the momentum behind him.
Repeat success will be no formality for Dubois, though, and he will hold nothing back as he knows more than anybody else, he is possibly one step away from the biggest fight in boxing.
Dubois Success Would Put Him in Line to Face the Fury-Usyk Winner
The reason Dubois’ return fight against Joshua is so massive despite its predicted one-sidedness, is that if he triumphs, he should be in line to face the winner of the Tyson Fury vs Usyk undisputed title fight.
When the respective battles of Dubois-Joshua and Fury-Usyk were initially planned, there is no doubt that there was a view for Joshua and Fury to meet in an undisputed title fight, if they both succeeded in their initial fights. However, there is now a distinct possibility that the opposite – Dubois vs Usyk could take place.

The Englishman could look to get the ultimate revenge on the man who handed him a second career defeat and halted his progress in 2023. That is if Usyk — like Dubois — manages to defeat his opponent for a second time.
Dubois, though, if he succeeds against Joshua, will be desperate to earn a title shot regardless of who awaits him. If it is to be a first-time fight against Fury, rather than a revenge mission against Usyk, he will certainly have no complaints as long as undisputed world champion status is on the line.
Ultimately, the stars appear to be aligning for Dubois. He is thoroughly expected to beat Joshua again and that would make him the man most likely to receive a title shot against the winner of Fury vs Usyk II.
