Jaime Munguia ‘Would Love’ To Fight Gennadiy Golovkin Next Time Out
Jaime Munguia has called out Gennadiy Golovkin a few times and he now hopes the fight happens next time out.
Munguia, who is 38-0, defeated Gabriel Rosado in a hard-fought 12-round decision, with scores of 119-109, 118-110, and 117-111. He’s now 4-0 as a middleweight and the top-rated contender for both the WBC and WBO titles. With that, he hopes to fight GGG next time out.
“I would love that fight (with Gennadiy Golovkin),” Munguia told DAZN’s Chris Mannix after the win, his first to go the distance since April 2019. “It would be a great fight, one that the public would really enjoy. I’m very excited about possibly getting that fight next.”
Although Munguia wants the Golovkin fight, is set for a title unification bout with WBA titlist Ryota Murata, which will take place December 29 in Japan. Should GGG win that, then perhaps the Jaime Munguia fight does make sense.
However, should the Golovkin fight not happen next, he is prepared to fight for is prepared to challenge for the WBC and WBO belts. The goal for the undefeated fighter is to fight for a belt next time out.
“We’re ready for a world title fight in the coming year. A world title or a title eliminator,” insists Munguia.
Jaime Munguia (38-0), as mentioned, defeated Rosado to retain the WBO Inter-Continental middleweight title. In his career, he holds notable wins over Kamil Szermeta, Tureano Johnson, and Gary O’Sullivan among others. But, there’s no question, his next fight will be the toughest test of his career regardless of who he fights.
